The Wallflowers are an American rock band from Los Angeles, California. The band has gone through many changes throughout its storied career, the only constant piece being singer Jakob Dylan. They have won two Grammy's for their hit 1998 "One Headlight." Their self-titled album has sold over a million copies, although initially sold an estimated 40,000. With band members coming and going the band has not toured for years. The band has just announced they are set to make a greatest hits album set for release in 2011.

The Dropkick Murphy's are an Irish-American band from Quincy Massachusetts.Known for their Celtic pride the band began in 1996. The band released their first album "Do Or Die," in 1998. Their hit song "Tessie" was featured in the movie Fever Pitch and was in the EA sports game MVP Baseball 2005 soundtrack. In 2006 their biggest hit "I'm Shipping Up To Boston," lyrics were used from the poem by Woody Guthrie.

Shinedown is an American Rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. The bands' debut album "Leave a Whisper," released in 2003. The two mainstream hits 45, Simple Man catapulted the group to popularity. Simple man is an acoustic cover from Lynard Skynards' classic hit. Sound Of Madness is their most recent album, released May 6, 2008.

Enya


Eithne Ní Bhraonáin better known as Enya. She began hr career in 1980, when she joined her family band known as "Clannad."Her 1988 album Watermark propelled her to further international fame and she became known for her unique sound. In 2000 her album A Day Without Rain, sold 15 million copies. She was named the best female artist in 2000.

Barnaked Ladies

A Canadian band, initially a duo, Barenaked Ladies got its start in 1988. Titled Gordon, the band's first album proved a smash in Canada, but failed to generate much excitement among American audiences. The album occupied the No. 1 spot on the Canadian pop charts for eight weeks, and it remained inhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif the Canadian Top 10 for ten months. Total sales ultimately topped 800,000, earning the band Group of the Year honors at the prestigious Juno Awards (Canada's equivalent of the Grammys). The Who


The Who was an American rock band in the late 1970's. All four of the band members grew up in London. The Who was best known for their live performaances in which at the end of their concerts would destroy their instruments. Moon, the drummer of the band died at the age of 32 in 1978. The band was inducted into the Rock n' Roll hall of fame in 1990 in its first year of eligibility. The band was in the news recently for its performance in the Super Bowl.

Alfred Matthew "Weird Al" Yankovic was born on October 23, 1959. He is best known for his humorous parodies on today's pop culture. Three Doors Down

Three Doors Down is an American rock band from Escatawpa, Mississippi, formed in 1996. Founded by Brad Arnold, Matt Roberts, and Todd Harrell.The band signed to Universal Records after the success of their song "Kryptonite". The band has since sold well over 16 million records worldwide since their debut album, The Better Life, which was released in 2000. They also perform more than 300 concerts a year.

Red is a Christian rock band from Nashville, Tennessee established in 2004. The members of Red do consider the band to be a Christian band; their faith is central to the group, it's name representing the blood of Christ and being short for redemption. The band's debut album End Of Silence was released in 2006, and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of "Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album" at the 49th annual Grammy Awards. The album's first single, "Breathe Into Me," peaked at #15 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart and won the "Rock Recorded Song of the Year" award at the 38th annual GMA Dove Awards in 2007.

Three Days Grace

On the self-titled Jive debut from Three Days Grace, the Toronto-based trio originally from Norwood, Ontario, Canada, has produced a rock album, filled with melodic choruses and lyrics that explore the darker side of human behavior. After signing to Jive Records, Three Days Grace released two studio albums, Three Days Grace in 2003 and One-X in 2006, both of which have been certified platinum and double platinum in the United States and Canada, respectively. In 2007, the band was declared number one rock artist of the year by Billboard and was the number four artist in airplay in Canada that same year. The band continues to tour today and has made a third album.

Blink-182

Blink-182 was started in 1992. They are a punk-rock band from San Diego. They were forced to add the purely random number 182 to avoid a lawsuit by an Irish band also called Blink. Some fans believe 182 was the first number that popped in the bands head. Travis Barker joined the group in 1999. The album was titled Enema of the State, which went multi platinum world wide; and won them the 2000 MTV best group video for 'All the Small Things'. The album Enema of the State has sold over 400 million copies.

The Offspring


The band, originally called Manic Subsidal, changes its name to The Offspring. They press up 1,000 copies of the debut vinyl single, “I‘ll Be Waiting“ b/w “Blackball,” on their own Black Label.The Offspring sign with Columbia Records, and release the Dave Jerden-produced Ixnay on the Hombre in February of 1997. The album sells more than 3 million worldwide and peaks at #9 on the Billboard 200, with singles “All I Want,“ “Gone Away,“ and “I Choose“ all hitting the Modern Rock charts. "Pretty Fly For A White Guy," landed the number one spot on Rolling Stones top internet pirated songs in 1998. Americana being there most famous album released in November of 1998. It sold over 10 million copies.

Metallica



Metallica is a heavy metal band from Los Angeles. The band formed in 1981. Metallica is best known for their "Black Album" which sold around 25 million copies. This album has Metallica's best hits such as "Enter Sandman","Nothing Else Matters", and "Wherever I May Roam." In 2000 Metallica filed a lawsuit against Napster for sharing the bands copyright-protected material for free without the bands consent. A settlement was reached and Napster became a pay to use service. As of 2009 Metallica is the fourth highest-selling music artist selling 52,160,000 in the United States alone.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

The Red Hot Chili Peppers formed in 1983 when Anthony Kiedis and Flea who had met in high school decided to start up a band. A year after Hillel Slovak's death (due to heroine overdose) the Red Hot Chili Peppers hit it big with the release of the CD Mother's Milk. After that the Red Hot Chili Peppers released the wildly successful Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which had mainstream hits like Under The Bridge, and Give It Away. 1999's Californication was another huge hit. More hits include, Scar Tissue, and Can't Stop. The Red Hot Chili Peppers' were also honored that year with a Video Vanguard Award.

Kings Of Leon


Kings Of Leon is a southern rock and roll band. Named after their father Leon, the band signed with RCA Records in 2002. Youth And Young Manhood was their first album selling only 100,000 copies in the US, but sold 750,000 elsewhere. The group's second album Aha Shake Heartbreak was highly anticipated, moving to number three on the British charts. Because Of The Times the bands third album was the most popular yet. Knocked Up, Charmer, and On Call led the way as the most popular tracks on that album. Their latest album "Only By The Night" is what took America by storm. This album is known for their two main hits Use Somebody, and Sex On Fire. The band got nominated for an American Music Award in 2009, and I won Best Rock Band for the British Music Awards.
